LONG BEACH, Calif. — A former aircraft factory in Long Beach is being converted into a movie production studio with 40 soundstages.
The Press-Telegram reports a $375 million deal will be signed Monday, paving the way for the redevelopment of the historic manufacturing site where McDonnell Douglas workers built the DC-8 airliner.
Long Beach Studios Chairman Jack O'Halloran says the 77-acre site, now owned by Boeing, will be the hub of a chain of five movie studios that will built around the country.
City officials says the studio is expected to create 2,500 to 3,000 jobs.
